Insiders familiar with the production of Blake Lively’s latest film, “It Ends With Us,” have revealed that the actress had disagreements with the director regarding the movie’s final edit.
In this romance-drama, Lively shares the screen with Justin Baldoni, Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj, and others. The film, based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, hits theaters today (August 9).
Though Baldoni directed the film and worked closely with Lively throughout production, the two were notably absent from photos together at the New York City premiere.
Speculation about the event and its press tour quickly emerged online, with one individual even suggesting the duo was ‘avoiding each other like the plague.’
Observant social media users also noted that both Lively and Hoover appeared to have unfollowed Baldoni on Instagram.
According to sources cited by TheInSneider, also known as Jeffrey Sneider, tensions arose between Lively and Baldoni due to differing opinions on the film’s final cut.
Insiders claimed that multiple versions of the film were in contention during the editing phase, with Lively and Baldoni supporting different cuts.
Reportedly, Baldoni’s version received higher scores from test audiences, but Lively allegedly took steps to ensure her version prevailed.
It has been suggested that Lively recruited her husband, Ryan Reynolds, to assist, with Reynolds ‘basically taking over the movie and forming an alliance with author Colleen Hoover to ensure their cut was chosen.’
As a result, sources claimed, ‘Baldoni and Blake hate each other.’
One source commented: “It’s wild that the cast would shun Justin and not do press with him. It makes no sense because he’s the only one acting professional.”
Reynolds was seen smiling alongside Lively at the New York premiere, and in an interview with People, Lively mentioned that her husband had contributed to the film in some way.
She revealed: “The iconic rooftop scene, my husband actually wrote it. Nobody knows that but you now.”
Lively added: “We help each other. He works on everything I do; I work on everything he does. So his wins, his celebrations are mine and mine are his.”
Despite the rumors, Baldoni has praised Lively, calling her a ‘creative force.’
He told People: “She’s an executive producer on the film, and she is so brilliant.”
