Dishwasher Specialist Shares the One Action to Avoid After Man’s Camera Footage Shocks Viewers

A dishwasher specialist has disclosed an item he would never place in a dishwasher, following a man’s online stir by showcasing its internal workings.

It’s unusual for a simple household device to cause such a ruckus online, yet here we are.

The commotion started when a man uploaded a video on YouTube, offering a peek inside his dishwasher.

The YouTube channel, Povs Adventures, displayed what transpires when a camera is placed inside a running dishwasher, surprising viewers.

Most people have never seen the inside of a functioning dishwasher, and now that they have, it feels somewhat illicit.

The video ignited a heated discussion in the comment section, reflecting its surprising content.

The creator explained: “I put a camera in a dishwasher because I, like many others, wonder what really went on in there. I added a light, so it would be super clear and then I also filled it up more, I added a tide pod, I strapped the camera in, closed the dishwasher and then it was time to see what happened.”

Initially, everything seemed normal as water jetted out to start the wash cycle.

However, viewers were taken aback by the water’s color, expecting it to be clear, only to discover the dishwasher was using brown water to clean dishes.

After the video gained traction, a dishwasher expert stepped in to share his personal advice.

Andrew Laughlin, a principal researcher & writer at Which, noted that the company tests 60 dishwashers annually, but he has personal recommendations for their use.

He advises against wasting water by pre-rinsing dishes.

In an article, Laughlin stated: “For some, the thought of not rinsing plates before loading them into the dishwasher will fill them with horror. But I never bother rinsing crockery – just scrape off any leftovers into the food bin and stick them straight in.”

He explained that most dishwasher programs include a pre-rinse cycle, negating the need to pre-rinse under a tap.

He further noted: “Modern, all-in-one dishwasher tablets are more than capable of taking on any mess thanks to a combination of powder and gel-based detergents.”

Unfortunately, this advice might not have helped the YouTuber, as he encountered the same issue when he filmed his dishwasher again recently.

Second attempt to observe dishwasher cleaning process

Responding to remarks about dirty water, he tested the dishwasher again, this time with a single plate adorned with a ketchup smiley face.

Did the water remain brown?

Yes, until the final five minutes when it finally ran clear.

In the comment section, a user humorously remarked: “Bro got the dishwasher hooked up to his septic tank.”

Another commented: “Thank you for helping me see reasons why hand washing is best.”

A third viewer added: “I am glad I was not the only one who was shocked by the brown water thank you for sharing anyway.”
