Disneyland fan spots a surprising ‘time traveler’ in grandpa’s old park photos

Josie Weaver has fired back at relatives who dismissed her “time traveler” find as overdramatic after her TikTok video of a strangely modern-looking man in her grandfather’s 1960s Disneyland photos went viral.

Weaver, whose TikTok post has racked up 2.5 million views since Aug. 25, said she couldn’t shake the jarring sight of the young man cutting through the foreground outside New Orleans Square. “To me, he looked so different to everyone around him, especially with his haircut — it was like faded on the side,” she said.

The discovery came about after Weaver’s 84-year-old grandfather enlisted her help selling an old camera that had been tucked away for decades. The pair unearthed film from the device and enlarged the treasure trove of images on a projector, sifting through vacation archives the family had held onto for roughly sixty years.

While many men surrounding the mystery figure wore the era’s standard boxy short-sleeve collared shirts and slacks, this parkgoer strode through in a snug navy crewneck T-shirt, dark sunglasses and a crossbody sling bag. The look struck Weaver as far more suited to a 2026 music festival than the Lyndon B. Johnson era.

Her family’s response was notably less enthused. Relatives called her reaction “dramatic,” insisting they were simply looking at old photos and nothing more, according to the source material.

The comment section on Weaver’s TikTok quickly split into competing camps. Some viewers embraced the supernatural angle, alleging “there’s a time traveling portal” at the Anaheim park.

Others pushed back with considerably less fantastical theories. “I hate to break it to you,” one person wrote. “But people did own shirts and sunglasses in the 60s.”

“As a vintage fashion enthusiast, I could see why you would say that but it’s definitely just a basic casual look for the time,” another added.

A third faction suggested the man might have been European or simply a fashionable individual ahead of his time, offering middle-ground explanations that stopped short of full-blown time travel while still acknowledging his anomalous appearance.

The photograph captures Disneyland during the park’s relatively early years, when New Orleans Square and the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction were still recent additions to Walt Disney’s original Anaheim resort. The images emerged from a camera that had sat dormant for decades, its film preserving moments from an era when men’s fashion norms were considerably more rigid than what the crossbody-bag-wearing figure displayed.

Weaver has not indicated whether she plans to dig deeper into identifying the man or the exact year the photograph was taken, leaving the mystery intact for her millions of viewers to continue debating.
