Disturbing bodycam footage reveals the moment a law enforcement officer fatally shot a man who had reached out to 911 for assistance after a woman intruded into his residence.

The Las Vegas Police Department has confirmed that they are currently conducting an investigation into a police officer’s involvement in a fatal shooting.

Brandon Durham, aged 43, was shot and killed by an officer in his own home, leading his family to denounce the incident as an ‘unlawful murder’.

The bodycam footage captured the incident, which occurred on November 12 during the early hours, showing officers arriving at the Las Vegas home. During the emergency call, Durham had described the intruder’s appearance and mentioned that he was securing himself in the bathroom.

He also informed the operators that he was inside the house with his 15-year-old daughter.

Upon entering the home, police encountered Durham, the homeowner, engaged in a struggle with a woman over a knife.

The woman, identified as Alejandra Boudreaux, was known to Durham, as they had a previous relationship.

The footage shows an officer firing at Durham, and after he collapses, the officer shoots him five more times.

Boudreaux was not struck by the gunfire and was subsequently detained. She faced charges for home invasion with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse, and domestic violence.

According to the Clark County Coroner’s Office, Durham succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. The officer involved, a 26-year-old with the Vegas Metropolitan Police Department since 2021, is under investigation to assess his actions.

Before the footage was released to the public, Durham’s family viewed it and have described the shooting as a ‘complete disservice’.

In a report by Fox 5 Vegas, Diane Wright, Durham’s sister, stated: “When I viewed the video, he was at least eight feet away from my brother who was struggling with the intruder inside the home, screaming, ‘Help me! help me!’ The officer shoots my brother in the head.”

Isabella Durham, Durham’s daughter, added: “My father always feared the police and even with that fear, he asked me to call the police. I dialed my phone and handed it to him and that was the last time I saw him alive.”
