A medical expert has commented on the theories explaining why some people have never experienced a bone fracture.
While most people do not intentionally try to break their bones, there are certain activities that increase the likelihood of such injuries. Engaging in dangerous stunts, like those seen on shows such as Jackass, can certainly lead to broken bones. For instance, standing in front of a charging bull while attempting a magic trick could be a high-risk activity (hinting at famous figures like Johnny Knoxville).
Besides avoiding risky stunts, three theories have been suggested to explain why some individuals have never broken a bone.
The first theory involves ‘spiritual protection.’ According to TikTok user Sara’s Weird World, there might be a mystical reason for someone’s bones remaining intact.
She claims, “That’s because they are protected by spiritual protection. Almost untouchable in a weird sense. Protected by the higher powers.”
Another theory proposes that ‘good karma’ safeguards a person from harm.
The last theory suggests that experiences from past lives might influence one’s current life.
Sara elaborates: “It is said that those people in this life who have never broken a bone may have experienced significant trauma in a past life. So, the theory suggests that they are being spared from having similar experiences in this life.”
Dr. Suhail Hussain and the Royal Osteoporosis Society have offered their perspective on these unconventional ideas.
Discussing the matter with LADbible, Dr. Hussain asserted that the chance of breaking a bone is not merely random or due to supernatural protection.
He explained, “It’s a mix of your genes, lifestyle, and even what you eat could be making your bones weaker or stronger.”
For instance, genetics can play a significant role in bone strength.
Dr. Hussain remarked, “Bone strength is largely inherited. That includes how dense your bones are, how well your body processes calcium, and even how your skeleton is built. Some of us are naturally more prone to thinner bones – and those can snap more easily under pressure.”
Lifestyle choices also contribute to the risk of bone fractures.
“Lifestyle plays a huge role in whether or not you’ll suffer a fracture one day,” commented the healthcare specialist.
Factors such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and exercise frequency are significant. Individuals who smoke, consume excessive alcohol, and exercise infrequently may have a higher risk of fractures.
Maintaining a balanced diet is vital for bone health and preventing breaks.
The Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS) recommends consuming ‘a variety of foods’ rich in ‘essential nutrients’ and ‘vitamin D’.
