An anesthesiologist is facing accusations of attempting to murder his wife and reportedly contacted his son afterwards.
Gerhardt Konig is alleged to have tried to kill his wife, Arielle Konig, by pushing her off a well-known scenic spot on Oahu, Hawaii.
In addition to the push, Gerhardt allegedly struck Arielle with a rock on her head and attempted to inject her using two syringes.
The incident is said to have occurred around 10 am on March 24. Thankfully, Arielle survived but sustained injuries from the attack.
The couple, who have been married for six years, reportedly had a deteriorating relationship in the months leading up to the alleged attack.
According to a court document related to Arielle’s request for a restraining order, she claims that Gerhadt called his adult son after the incident, confessing that he ‘tried to kill’ her, but she ‘got away’, as reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Gerhadt now faces charges of second-degree attempted murder, with his bail set at $5 million.
In her restraining order request, Arielle claims that Gerhadt was prone to ‘extreme jealousy’ and attempted to ‘control and monitor’ her communications.
In December, Arielle alleges her husband accused her of infidelity.

Two hikers reportedly intervened on the day of the alleged attack, preventing what could have been a fatal outcome for Arielle.
An affidavit viewed by PEOPLE describes the sequence of events that allegedly occurred on March 24.
Gerhadt reportedly asked to take a selfie with Arielle at the edge of the tourist spot, but she declined, feeling uncomfortable about standing there, and began to walk away.
Her husband allegedly ‘yelled at her to come back, and when she refused, he pushed her into the bushes, leading to a struggle’.
According to Arielle, her husband of six years then hit her with a rock and smashed her face into the ground.
She called for help and managed to escape by crawling towards two nearby hikers, informing them that her husband was ‘trying to kill [her]’.
Later that same day, Gerhadt was arrested.
