Doctor Runs A&E Department While Holding A Sleeping Baby

A senior doctor’s photo of him holding a baby on his chest while doing rounds in a New Zealand hospital is touching hearts all over the world.

Dr. Muir Wallace was photographed cuddling a sleeping baby while running the busy A&E department of Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, New Zealand.

It was posted on the hospital’s Facebook page with the caption, “Sometimes all you need is a hug”.

“The little guy was here with his mum and badly needed a snooze,” a guy from the hospital named Mike wrote in the caption. “Sadly, his mum was unwell and needed some tests.”

Apparently, several people attempted to calm the baby down, but only Dr. Muir was able to accomplish the task.

So what does he do when his services are needed by a crying infant, and the rest of the people in the A&E department at the same time? Well, he multitasks!

For about one hour, the doctor carried on with his duties in the emergency department with a sleeping baby on his chest.

“Just an example of the small kindnesses that happen every day that often go unnoticed,” Mike added.

After the photo was posted, several people commented with stories of their own about the ‘legendary’ doctor.

One woman said it’s just another example of why the doctor was amazing. She claims he also helped watch her son after he burnt his face and was admitted to the hospital. “Thank you doctor for all the kind work you and your team do,” she added.

Another commenter wrote, “We often don’t give enough credit to doctors and nurses for the work they do.”
