A reality television personality has been cautioned about her severe coffee consumption, which could potentially be life-threatening, as the dangers of caffeine toxicity are highlighted.
In a preview for the upcoming episodes of My Strange Addiction, a woman claims to consume 100 cups of coffee daily.
The TLC series, famous for featuring both highly dangerous and less harmful addictions, shared a clip of the woman on Instagram.
This video showcased a crucial discussion she had with a medical expert.
Angela, a 45-year-old single mother from Jersey Shore, New Jersey, seeks medical consultation following concerns raised by her children.
“They think I drink too much coffee,” she expressed.

“Okay, how much coffee are you drinking, if you had to quantify it?” the doctor inquired.
Initially, she mentioned drinking ‘more than 10’ cups, but later disclosed that the amount is ‘way more than 10.’
“I think I’ve had almost 100 cups of coffee a day,” Angela confessed, prompting the doctor to describe this as ‘super excessive’ and a risk for ‘caffeine toxicity.’
The doctor further explained that caffeine toxicity could cause various symptoms, from mild to severe.
Healthline notes that a caffeine overdose might lead to symptoms such as dizziness, diarrhea, increased thirst, insomnia, headache, fever, and irritability.
More critical medical emergencies include difficulty breathing, vomiting, hallucinations, confusion, chest pain, irregular or rapid heartbeat, uncontrollable muscle movements, and convulsions.
To prevent this, it’s advised to limit intake to around four cups or less, keeping it below 400mg.
The doctor also warned Angela on the TLC show about the significant long-term risks of excessive coffee consumption.
Coffee is described as an ‘addictive drug’ that should be used in ‘small doses.’
“Over time and the amount that she’s drinking, definitely she’s addicted to it,” the doctor added.
Zack D Films produced a YouTube video discussing a case where a man inadvertently ingested enough caffeine powder equivalent to 200 cups of coffee.
Tragically, his heart rate increased drastically, he foamed at the mouth, and he succumbed to cardiac arrest due to the excessive caffeine intake causing erratic heartbeats.
