Dolly Parton has recently assured her fans that she is in good health and not facing any life-threatening issues in a delightful new video. This update came after concerns arose due to her postponing a Las Vegas residency, initially scheduled for December, due to health reasons.
Earlier, her sister mentioned being concerned and staying up all night praying for Dolly. However, she later clarified that Dolly was simply “a little under the weather.”
“I didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious when asking for prayers,” her sister explained.
Dolly herself addressed her fans directly in a humorous video posted on social media on Wednesday, October 8. In the video, she appears fully made-up and is in the middle of filming a TV commercial.
“Do I look sick to you? I’m working hard here!” she quipped.
Dolly expressed gratitude for the support and prayers she received, remarking, “I could always use the prayers for anything and everything.”
She provided some insight into her health issues, mentioning that she had neglected her own well-being while caring for her husband Carl during his extended illness.
“When he passed, I didn’t take care of myself, so I let a lot of things go that I should’ve been taking care of,” she revealed.
Upon visiting the doctor, she discovered some minor health concerns that needed attention, but assured they were “nothing major.”
Dolly explained that she wanted to stay near her home and the facility where she would undergo “a few treatments.”
“I’m not dying!” she stated emphatically.
Earlier in March, Parton shared the sad news of her husband, Carl Dean’s passing at the age of 82, after nearly 60 years of marriage.
In June, she mentioned pausing her songwriting as she dealt with her profound loss. The couple’s story began in 1964, outside the Wishy Washy Laundromat in Nashville, when Parton was 18 and Dean, 21. Dean spotted her while driving his pickup truck and “hollered” at her, a moment she recounted to The New York Times in 1976.
Their enduring marriage was celebrated with a renewal of vows in 2016 at their Nashville home.
Further updates are expected.
