Donald Trump leaves audience puzzled with bold claim regarding European nickname

Donald Trump has taken on a new designation, sparking strong reactions from the public.

It’s quite something to be assigned a new esteemed title as a global figure.

Trump has already been recognized as a businessman, a former president, and a mediator in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Now, he claims that Europe has coined a new nickname for him.

This tribute to Trump arises amidst ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, which have persisted for several years.

Recently, Trump has been actively pursuing a ceasefire, meeting with Putin in Alaska on August 15 to discuss potential pathways to peace.

Although no formal agreement was reached, Trump expressed optimism, stating, “we have a very good chance of getting there.”

Subsequently, he met with European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on August 18 to discuss a ceasefire.

Representatives from Italy, Germany, the UK, and other nations convened to prioritize Ukraine’s ceasefire agreement.

The gathering included NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and other key political leaders who engaged in peace discussions.

Despite efforts by Merz and Macron to urge Trump into negotiating with Russia, they faced challenges. The German chancellor remarked: “Let’s try and put pressure on Russia, because the credibility of this effort, these efforts were are undertaking today, are depending on at least a ceasefire from the beginning of the serious negotiations, from next stop on.

“I would like to emphasize this aspect and would like to see a ceasefire from the next meeting, which should be a trilateral meeting, wherever it takes place.”

Following these extensive diplomatic efforts, Trump claimed he received a new title as a result of the meeting.

He asserted that Europeans now jokingly refer to him as the ‘President of Europe.’

During a briefing on Monday, August 25, Trump expressed his appreciation for the acknowledgment, stating, “They jokingly call me the president of Europe,” during an Oval Office session with reporters.

“It’s an honor. I like Europe and I like those people,” Trump continued.

He commended Europe’s leaders, noting that the meeting with representatives from numerous countries was unprecedented.

He said: “We’ve never had a case where seven, plus 28 – essentially 35, 38 – countries were represented here the other day.”

While such a title would indeed be an impressive accolade, social media users have quickly refuted its existence within European discourse.

Critics have accused Trump of fabricating the title, while others suggest it might have been a sarcastic jab.

One user commented on X: “As a contributor, currently sitting in Europe, I’d like to confirm that we don’t call him that. At all. Ever. Ever. There are many things we do call him but ‘president’ is not among them.”

Another user added: “Europe here HELL NO we don’t!”

Someone else noted: “They call you other things too.”

One person quipped: “Are ‘they’ in the room with us right now?”

Another commented: “Yeah, because nothing says ‘respect’ like a joke title from leaders who can’t stand you.”

In fact, a poll conducted in the EU’s eight largest countries and Denmark found that 51 percent of respondents perceive him as the ‘enemy of Europe’.

Without confirmation from world leaders on whether they actually bestowed the title of POE (President Of Europe) upon him, it remains uncertain whether the name was meant seriously or humorously.
