Donald Trump shares his preferred McDonald’s meal and his singular critique in an unusual address to company leaders

President Donald Trump generated quite the stir with an unusual sound effect while discussing his favorite McDonald’s meal in a peculiar address.

Since its establishment in the 1940s, McDonald’s has been a beloved staple in American culture, known for its Golden Arches, drive-thrus, and iconic affordable meals.

The 45th president of the United States is no stranger to the fast-food chain, having even worked a shift at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s during his 2024 campaign and previously serving an abundance of McDonald’s food to the Clemson Tigers football team at the White House in 2019 after their championship victory.

In a recent appearance at the company’s Impact Summit in Washington DC, Trump delivered a peculiar speech about his enthusiasm for the food, particularly highlighting one item.

“I like the fish,” he remarked, referencing the Filet-O-Fish sandwich, followed by a peculiar sound effect that defied description.

He continued, “I like it,” and then suggested an improvement for the dish.

“You could do with a little more tartar sauce, though, please,” he requested of the McDonald’s executives.

Trump elaborated, “Seriously,” as he mimicked adding more sauce to the bun. “I hate it when I say, ‘Do you have any tartar sauce?'”

Pointing to an audience member, he added, “You understand? Yes, he understands that.”

The former president’s fondness for the McDonald’s fish sandwich is well-known. Just weeks prior, Joe Gruters, chair of the Republican National Committee, shared insights on Trump’s typical campaign meal.

“He had hot fries waiting for him from McDonald’s … And then he had a Filet-O-Fish, a Quarter Pounder, and a Big Mac, and I think he combined two of them,” Gruters commented.

In the book Let Trump Be Trump by Corey Lewandowski and David Bossie, another preferred meal from 2016 was noted, consisting of two Big Macs, two Filet-O-Fish sandwiches, and a chocolate milkshake.

During the summit, Trump expressed his pleasure in attending, referencing his past as a McDonald’s fry cook, “honored” to be there.

“While other politicians fly around on campaign planes stocked with expensive catering, on Trump Force One, prior to ascending to Air Force One, which is quite a nice plane also, we served only McDonald’s almost every time,” he explained.

He humorously added, “And I even got Bobby Kennedy to eat a Big Mac,” referring to his health secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., involved in the Make America Healthy Again initiative.

“He told me he loved it,” Trump quipped. “He didn’t want that publicized.”

Trump then highlighted his achievements in easing regulations, promoting business growth, and reducing taxes as part of his Big Beautiful Bill passed in July. He stated: “No tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and no tax on social security for our great seniors.”

He also asserted that the cost of a Thanksgiving meal at Walmart was 25 percent less than the previous year, though FactCheck.org indicated this was due to a reduction in grocery items from other brands.

Furthermore, Trump praised McDonald’s for their commitment to affordable choices and efforts to reintroduce Extra Value Meals.

However, despite these claims, McDonald’s CEO Christopher Kempczinski informed investors that there was a notable decline in visits from low-income families, fueled by concerns over the pricing of the ‘McValue menu.’
