Donald Trump wins yet another golf tournament at a familiar venue

President Trump has now won back-to-back golf tournaments at his own clubs, adding a Westchester caddies’ day title to his Bedminster championship.

The 80-year-old president, who took first place in both the senior and super senior divisions at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey on Aug. 2, followed that performance this week with another claimed victory at Trump National Golf Club Westchester in Briarcliff Manor, New York. The Westchester win came during the club’s annual “caddies’ day” tournament, an 18-hole event pairing members with the club’s caddies.

Details of the team score around the 7,300-yard, par-72 Jim Fazio-designed course remain unclear. But the president did not leave empty-handed, reportedly delivering a $25,000 bonus to be split among the caddying staff following the round. He also attended a post-tournament event honoring the caddies, where a source described him as “a big hit” with the club’s workers.

“There’s a lot of anti-Trump stuff out there [in the country], but the staff loves him,” a caddy shack reports said.

White House assistant press secretary Olivia Wales confirmed the Westchester result when reached for comment. “Fact check: true. President Trump is a winner,” Wales said.

The back-to-back victories extend a pattern of tournament wins that Trump has claimed at properties bearing his name. The president now says he has captured 40 club championships across his collection of courses, a tally that has drawn skepticism from critics who note the competitions occur at venues he owns and operates.

Trump himself has shown no hesitation in touting his achievements. In a Truth Social post on Sunday following the Bedminster wins, the president wrote, “I won with a score of 70, and am so honored in that, unlike the rest of the field, I’m given very little time to practice, because I’m focused on many other things.”

“It’s called TALENT, and I have it, and they don’t!” He continued in the same post.

The claimed score of 70 at Bedminster would represent a two-under-par round on the Tom Fazio-designed course. Trump also shared video of what he described as his “winning shot” from the tournament.

The president’s golfing record has long attracted controversy. Sportswriter Rick Reilly, author of the book “Commander in Cheat,” has been among the most vocal critics. In a March 2024 appearance on Deadline White House, Reilly recounted a conversation in which Trump allegedly explained his championship strategy.

“I know this because when I play with him, he goes, ‘You know what I do to win these championships, don’t ya?’ And I go, ‘Please tell me. Give it to me.’ And he goes, ‘Anytime I buy a new course, I play the first round all by myself and then I declare myself the club champion,'” Reilly said. “So that’s what kind of guy this is.”

Reilly’s book also alleged that caddies at Winged Foot, where Trump is a member, nicknamed him “Pele” for his habit of kicking his ball back onto the fairway. Trump has denied allegations of cheating at golf.

Not all assessments of the president’s game have been negative. John Nieporte, director of golf at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach and a former caddie for Trump, offered a more favorable review of his skills. “I’ve seen him win club championships sinking 60 foot putts,” Nieporte said. “I’ve seen him shoot 66 out here on this golf course.”

In the viral moment that preceded this latest claimed triumph, Trump had already drawn significant attention for his Aug. 2 Bedminster victory, where he won both age categories at a tournament held at a course he has owned since 2002. The property has hosted multiple professional events, including LIV Golf competitions in 2022 and 2023, and was scheduled to host the 2022 PGA Championship before the PGA of America moved the tournament following the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot. The club’s championship history shows Trump previously won the senior title in 2023 and 2024, making the 2025 victories his third consecutive in that division.

LIV Golf is set to return to Trump National Golf Club Bedminster for its third event at the course, with the 2026 tournament scheduled for Aug. 6-9.
