DoorDash driver detained in Nancy Guthrie case breaks silence

Following his detention and several hours in custody in relation to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, a man has been released and has shared his experience with the media.

Carlos Palazuelos, a 36-year-old DoorDash driver, was apprehended by authorities while driving on Tuesday night, during the ongoing search for the 84-year-old mother of TODAY co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.

Despite being held in handcuffs and insisting to investigators that he had no knowledge of Nancy or her daughter Savannah, claiming he doesn’t even follow the news, Palazuelos was eventually released without any charges.

Outside his home in Arizona, a shaken Palazuelos described how the handcuffs caused his hands to swell, expressing, “They held me against my will. They didn’t even read me my rights until two hours later.”

Expressing his innocence and unfamiliarity with the case, he voiced his confusion, saying, ‘What the f**k am I doing here? I didn’t do anything, to be honest, I’m innocent.’

Prior to his release, DoorDash issued a strong response to the situation, stating: “We are urgently investigating reports that an individual detained in relation to the Nancy Guthrie case was a delivery driver.

“We have reached out to law enforcement and are ready to support their critical investigation in any way we can. Like tens of millions around the world, our hearts are with the Guthrie family during this heart-wrenching time.”

Palazuelos also recounted the moments before his arrest, noting how he noticed law enforcement tailing him as he drove with his wife. When they pulled him over, he opted to exit the vehicle.

He informed officers of his employment with a delivery service and mentioned the possibility of having delivered a package to Nancy Guthrie’s residence on February 1, the day she reportedly went missing.

“I told them, I work in Tucson for GLS, I might have delivered a package to her house but I never kidnapped anybody,” he said, while speaking outside his home.
