Drake rang in his 40th birthday with a blowout that turned a Manhattan ballroom into a luxury game show.
The Toronto rapper, born Aubrey Graham, hosted more than 400 guests at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City last Friday. Attendees walked away with Chanel and Hermés handbags, while a handful of lucky partygoers pocketed cash prizes that climbed as high as $1 million.
The “One Dance” hitmaker reportedly transformed the evening into a live game-show format, with guests competing for tens of thousands of dollars before the top prize dropped. The “God’s Plan” singer, photographed arriving in a tuxedo with a shimmering jacket, is said to have “spared no expense” on the festivities.
The night’s biggest surprise came from the stage. The Backstreet Boys — Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson — delivered a nostalgic performance for the crowd, reports said. Drake, who has mined ’90s pop and R&B throughout his career, appeared to geek out over the boy-band reunion at his own party.
The milestone celebration capped a year of extravagant personal milestones for the OVO founder. In August, he unveiled a one-of-a-kind, diamond-encrusted Rolex Daytona on Instagram, calling the iced-out timepiece “the most important thing I have ever had the pleasure of owning.” The custom watch was created to celebrate “the record breaking milestones of 2026,” he wrote in the caption, nodding to his trio of album releases this year including “Iceman.”
“Please do not get your local jeweler to recreate,” Drake urged his followers in the same post. “This is a standalone and a part of history.”
The bespoke Rolex, estimated to be worth as much as $5 million, carries a hidden personal detail: the words “Freeze the World,” a lyric from his song “Make Them Know” off “Iceman,” are engraved on the back in blue lettering.
Drake’s taste for over-the-top displays has long extended to his travel. Last July, he gave fans a tour of his upgraded $185 million private Boeing 767 on Instagram. The aircraft features a bedroom with a king-size bed, flatscreen TV and mirrored walls, plus a main lounge with faux-fur seats, custom pillows, a gambling table, a movie screening area and three additional bedrooms for guests looking to “duck off.”
The birthday bash also arrives during a commercially dominant stretch. Beyond “Iceman,” Drake dropped multiple projects in 2026, keeping him planted at the center of streaming charts and hip-hop conversation even as he navigates high-profile feuds with peers including Kendrick Lamar.
The Cipriani party’s mix of nostalgia, gambling-level stakes and designer giveaways offered a fitting mirror for an artist who has built his brand on merging rap swagger with pop accessibility. Where other MCs might commission a verse for a milestone, Drake reportedly booked the Backstreet Boys and gave away Chanel.
The rapper has not publicly posted from the party itself, leaving guests and the outlet’s sourcing to sketch the evening’s details. His social media presence around the date focused instead on the Rolex and his ongoing album rollout.
Drake is expected to continue his 2026 promotional run with additional appearances tied to his multi-project release schedule.
