Drew Barrymore Emulates Pamela Anderson, Goes Makeup-Free and Ditches Hair Extensions On Camera

Drew Barrymore has been celebrated for appearing on TV without makeup and hair extensions.

As the host of her own chat show, The Drew Barrymore Show, Barrymore frequently invites celebrity guests to discuss a wide range of topics. This week, she welcomed none other than Pamela Anderson.

Recently, the Bay Watch star has been recognized as a beauty icon for embracing a more natural appearance, moving away from her typical glamorous style.

She first revealed her makeup-free look during the 2023 Paris Fashion Week, garnering international attention.

Anderson has since explained her choice to forgo cosmetic products like foundation and mascara for a more natural style.

“That was the beginning of me letting go of the image I had always had of myself,” Anderson revealed to Better Homes & Gardens magazine earlier this year.

“What is this cartoon character that I’d created? OK, that was fun. But I’m not that person anymore.”

Inspired by Anderson, Barrymore also decided to appear without makeup on the October 22 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show.

Her guests – Gillian Anderson, Gayle King, and Valerie Bertinelli – joined her in this choice.

Beyond makeup, Barrymore also removed her hair extensions as she candidly discussed her experiences with perimenopause and hair loss.

The Scream actress admitted feeling somewhat self-conscious upon seeing her reflection in the monitor, noticing she adjusted her appearance more frequently during the show. She then asked Gillian Anderson about her experience going makeup-free.

“I am hiding behind my glasses a little bit,” The Fall actress responded. “I often don’t wear makeup when I’m doing my TikTok posts and stuff, but what I am very aware of is the lighting [in the studio].”

Gayle King shared a similar perspective, saying: “I don’t have hang-ups about taking pictures of myself without makeup, but it is different when you’re on national TV.”

The women’s decision to appear without makeup on the show has been widely praised.

“I think it’s cool that they’re starting to normalize women’s natural beauty,” one person commented on Instagram.

Another person admired: “They all look just absolutely beautiful! More of this please!”

“You all and all other women are naturally beautiful without makeup,” wrote a third. “Your great and natural characters make you even prettier on the outside.”

Someone else described the stars as looking ‘perfect’ and applauded Barrymore’s encouragement.
