Drew Barrymore reveals the reason she sits so close to her talk show guests

Drew Barrymore has opened up about why she often sits unusually close to her guests on her chat show.

Fans have commented on how the actor and chat show host sometimes gets quite near to the celebrities who appear on her show.

Barrymore has now addressed this behavior, acknowledging that she is aware of it and is working on it, especially since some people are not fond of it.

Previously, some viewers took to social media to express their discomfort with her interviewing style.

One user wrote: “Her behavior is unprofessional. Guests are booked on her show to promote what they’ve got going on.”

Another commented: “They’re working and not there to snuggle with Drew. It’s a very weird thing to do to strangers.”

Someone else joked: “She needs one of those dividers like the grocery store or bank.”

Additionally, a fourth person remarked: “I’ve seen her show and the interviews are weird, she just basically climbs in people’s laps practically.”

Barrymore has addressed why she sometimes gets close to the people she interviews on her talk show.

The Drew Barrymore Show launched during the coronavirus pandemic, necessitating changes to the format to meet social distancing guidelines.

This required interviews to be conducted via video call instead of having guests physically in the studio.

Barrymore mentioned that she found this change challenging because she enjoys being around people.

She told Entertainment Tonight: “Do you know how hard that pandemic was for me? I was alone in a studio by myself.

“I like to be around people! It’s not everyone’s favorite and I’m sorry to those people.”

The star admitted that not everyone appreciates this behavior and stated that she is attempting to change it.

She said: “I’ll try to practice physical distance which is not my strong point.”

Barrymore’s talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show, has just been renewed. When asked about her feelings on the renewal, she said: “I still can’t believe that. It makes me think about how taking risks are important.”

“When we wanted to launch in a pandemic that wasn’t an obvious way to go, and it was a tremendous risk.”

She added: “I think it led to the uncertainty but it also led to the possibilities, and if we had not been given that chance, that unorthodox timing, we would not be here today.”
