In 1974, the White brothers’ band welcomed a new member: child prodigy drummer, Maurice White. White began drumming at the age of nine, and his skills earned him a gold record at 16 for his work on Donny Hathaway’s Live.

The album made Rolling Stone’s list of 50 greatest live albums. Soon after White’s addition to the band, their sixth studio album, That’s the Way of the World, skyrocketed to the top of the Billboard charts, with the single “Shining Star” hitting number one.

Earth, Wind and Fire have achieved immense success, selling over 90 million records worldwide and being nominated for 17 Grammys, of which they won six. The band has been commended by fans and critics alike, solidifying their place as one of the best-selling bands of all time.
