People have been intrigued by a recent Google Maps discovery suggesting a remote valley in Chile might resemble a portal to hell.
Have you ever launched the Google Maps application to explore streets far away from your own location? Perhaps it’s not a common pastime, but for those who do, an area in South America has been causing quite a stir as it appears to form a ‘demon face’.
To see this eerie phenomenon for yourself, you can visit the coordinates ’55°32’40.0″S 69°15’58.0″W’ on Maps, which will direct you to a secluded area within Chile’s Parque Nacional Alberto de Agostini.

According to the Earth X account, “That eerie symmetrical ‘face’ (demon/alien/skull vibes) is classic pareidolia + Google satellite stitching artifacts.”
“Cloudy area = spotty imagery, so they mirror/flip sections to fill gaps → creates weird repeating faces.”
“Zoom/pan and you’ll see the symmetry glitch out unnaturally. Not ancient ruins or ET base, just tech limitations in one of the most remote spots on Earth. Still creepy though.”

This national park, Parque Nacional Alberto de Agostini, is the third largest in Chile, named after the renowned mountaineer De Agostini, who explored and captured breathtaking images of the landscape.
As a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, it hosts diverse wildlife such as South American sea lions and southern elephant seals, along with ‘rich vegetation’ and awe-inspiring glaciers.
Despite its natural beauty, the park has garnered attention for the ‘demon face’, which many find unsettling at first glance.
One user shared on X, “Sure this is someone google having a giggle but just searched for it and it is like this,” while another added: “Pretty close to Antarctica and we all know there are no mysteries there! Right?”

The coordinates have also sparked discussions on Reddit, with some users expressing disbelief, saying ‘this can’t be real’.
This isn’t the first time Google Maps has sparked intrigue online. Previously, users found a disturbing ‘help’ message etched into the landscape in Los Angeles.
The strange message prompted many to share their thoughts on X.
“I honestly don’t know if this is just kids fooling around, or something real, but you can get into the yard through […] a hole in the fence,” one social media user shared.
They further speculated, “I just like to believe this is a prank,” noting that the area is ‘exposed’.
“If you’re writing that, everybody sees you. It seems to me like it’s just a bunch of kids playing a prank.”
