Eerie Selfie and Messages Sent to Family by Woman Moments Before Brazilian Plane Crash

Prior to a devastating plane crash in Brazil, one of the passengers sent unsettling messages to her mother.

On Friday (August 9), a Voepass aircraft traveling from Cascavel in ParanĂ¡ to Guarulhos in Sao Paulo tragically crashed.

The Brazilian Air Force reported that the plane was operating normally at 1.20pm but soon ceased communication with air traffic control.

Amongst the chaos, one of the passenger’s mothers shared the text messages she received from her daughter during the flight with Brazilian network TV Globo.

Rosemeire Xavier, the mother, revealed that her 23-year-old daughter Rosana Xavier texted at 11.47am: “Man, two hours of flight. We’re going to arrive in the rain. I am so scared of this flight. I swear, the plane is old.”

She added another message a minute later: “There is a broken seat. I swear. Chaos.”

Rosana also took a selfie with a neutral expression and sent it to her family.

Her mother, Rosemeire, mentioned she advised her daughter to read a Bible verse to calm down but grew increasingly anxious after receiving the texts.

Recalling the moment she learned about the crash, Rosemeire said: “I was in despair. I started running around the house screaming.”

First responders recovered the bodies of all 34 male passengers and 28 female passengers a day following the crash.

By Monday (August 12), only 17 victims had been identified, including the pilot Danilo Romano and the co-pilot Humberto de Silva.

In an initial statement issued by the airline on Friday, they said: “The aircraft took off from Cascavel-PR bound for Guarulhos Airport, with 58 passengers and four crew members on board. VOEPASS has taken all measures to support those involved. There is still no confirmation of how the accident occurred or the current situation of the people on board. The Company is providing support via telephone at 0800 9419712, available 24 hours a day, providing information to all its passengers, family members and employees.”
