Touching Moment Strangers Come Together To Fix 75-Year-Old Man’s Crumbling Rooftop

This is the touching moment dozens of strangers came together to help a 75-year-old man fix his crumbling rooftop after his kind-hearted neighbor shared a plea on Facebook.

David Perez saw his frail neighbor, Richard Dubiel, on his crumbling rooftop, trying to fix it. So he wrote a Facebook post asking his friends to help the elderly man finish the work.

I’m trying to reach anyone that has roofing experience. So please share this. I have a neighbor, the man on the roof in…

“I feel sorry for him but I have no roofing skills. I would like to see if anyone can donate their time to help him finish. It appears that he has all the materials so looking for free labor.”

To his astonishment, his post was shared nearly 1,500 times and 40 people turned up to the California address to lend a hand.

They brought pizza and drinks, and much needed manpower — and fixed the roof in four hours flat.

Perez told ABC News that his elderly neighbor was shocked: “I think he [Mr Dubiel] was still kind of in awe or in shock since he’s used to doing things by himself. He was definitely grateful and thanked everyone for all their hard work.”

Dubiel said he was left “astounded” by the response: “It restores your faith in humanity. I couldn’t believe it when this fella knocked on my door and said he wanted to help for free. What a gesture.”
