Elon Musk recently shared his opinion on President Donald Trump months after he stepped down from leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
During Friday’s episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, host Joe Rogan, 58, invited Musk, 54, back for a second appearance this year.
The billionaire entrepreneur, making his eighth appearance on the popular podcast, spoke for over three hours, during which he shared his candid thoughts on Trump, 79.
Musk had previously endorsed the Republican candidate during his 2024 Presidential Election campaign, leading to his appointment as the head of DOGE, where his mission was to reduce government spending and tackle the United States’ multi-trillion-dollar debt.
In December 2024, Musk stepped down from his role in the Trump administration, relinquishing his position as the leader of DOGE.
Since his departure, the two have been involved in several public disputes, with Trump expressing his disappointment in Musk’s actions.

This situation led Musk to allege on social media that Trump was linked to Jeffrey Epstein’s case, a claim he later retracted, and suggested that Trump would have lost to former Vice President Kamala Harris if not for him.
In October, Trump mentioned that they were back on speaking terms after their disagreements.
Now, Musk has shared his honest perspective, telling Rogan that although Trump isn’t ‘perfect’, he is not as ‘evil’ as he is portrayed.
Musk stated that Joe Biden’s administration ‘was not exactly my best friend, especially after I helped Trump get elected’, and remarked, “Some people still think, you know, Trump is like the devil, basically.”
Musk added: “The media coverage [on him] is exuberant, And, I mean, I think, I think Trump actually is not perfect, but, but he’s not evil. Trump is not evil. I spent a lot of time with him, and he’s, I mean, he’s a product of his time, but he is not, he’s not evil. The media coverage [on him] is exuberant.”
Rogan concurred with Musk’s view that Trump wasn’t evil, prompting Musk to say: “The media treats him like he’s super evil. It’s pretty shocking.”
In September, Musk and Trump were seen sitting together at Charlie Kirk’s funeral, with Musk later sharing a picture of their conversation, offering a brief explanation for their meeting.
Trump provided more context about the encounter, saying: “Elon came over and said hello. I thought it was nice he came up and had a little conversation. We had a very good relationship. But it was nice that he came down.”
