Emily Blunt recently opened up about her initial concerns regarding her involvement in her husband’s successful 2018 film during a new interview.
Emily Blunt, known for her exceptional acting skills, thrilled fans with the announcement of her participation in her husband’s film back in 2018.
John Krasinski’s 2018 alien horror film, A Quiet Place, featuring Blunt and Krasinski in the lead roles, proved to be a tremendous success, garnering acclaim for both Krasinski’s direction and the couple’s performances.
In a fresh interview for ELLE’s 2025 Women In Hollywood Celebration issue, Blunt shared her initial concerns about working on the film with her husband due to their marital ties.
Discussing a conversation with Krasinski, Blunt recalled: “Before we started, I was like, ‘Look, I’m thrilled to be doing this with you, but do you know how to shoot this movie? Because I don’t know how to shoot a movie. So I’m just asking,’
“He was laughing and he was like, ‘I think I do know how to shoot it. I don’t know why, but I think I do.’ Then, my God, did he. And can you imagine if he thought I was really s***. That would not be good.”
Blunt’s apprehensions are understandable, as professional challenges could potentially affect a harmonious working relationship within a marriage.
Fortunately, the film achieved significant box office success and received critical acclaim, boasting an impressive 96 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Blunt further commented: “I think if we had done that movie and we didn’t respect or admire each other, it would’ve been an absolute disaster.”
She expressed admiration for her husband’s efforts, describing the experience as ‘wild.’
She added: “I don’t think he knew what he was capable of.
“So it’s sort of like watching someone discover a superpower, which was wild.”

Prior to the film’s release, Krasinski discussed his creative inspiration, crediting the film’s success to his roles as director, writer, and actor.
As reported by the Badger Herald, he explained: “I had one bonus — which is I know what scares the hell out of me, and so every scene that I was writing I would get nervous in that moment and say it’s really dark.
“I’ll just write this because I would pass out if this happened in real life and turns out those things are actually scary.”
The franchise is set to continue with a fourth film slated for release in 2027, which is expected to further explore the storyline of Blunt’s character.
