End of Life Nurse Reveals What People Experience Before Passing

An end-of-life nurse has revealed what she believes is the most ‘comforting’ aspect of what happens to patients before they pass away.

Seeing a loved one in their final weeks or days is one of the most heart-wrenching experiences a family can endure.

It is a period filled with significant reflection and a great deal of emotional pain.

However, a nurse who cares for these patients on a daily basis has shared something that might offer ‘comfort’ to families navigating this challenging period.

Julie, who creates content on TikTok, mentioned that there is something ‘most’ patients go through in their final moments.

One viewer even commented that they are ‘not scared of death anymore’ after watching her video.

In the video, Julie explained: “The craziest things we see in the hospice is that most people will start talking or seeing dead relatives, dead loved ones, dead friends, and dead pets, before they die.”

However, she clarified that patients do not usually experience this phenomenon in the immediate days before their death.

She continued: “And it’s not like right before they die, it’s usually about a month before they die.

“They are usually very alert and oriented, they’re not low on oxygen, they’re not taking a bunch of medication to make them confused.

“They are clearly speaking or seeing someone who has already died.”

Interestingly, hospice staff are unsure why this occurs.

Julie stated: “We are not claiming that they are really seeing these people, we have no idea.

“But all I can tell you as a health care professional, who has worked in this line of work for a very long time, is that it happens all the time.”

While this phenomenon may offer considerable comfort to some family members, it could also be equally upsetting or confusing for others.

Julie reassured that they provide support to loved ones who are present while the patient experiences these ‘visions’.

She shared: “We educate the family about this topic before it happens, so they’re not incredibly alarmed when it starts happening.”

The comments section saw people sharing their own experiences.

One user remarked: “My mother in law was telling her sister that their mother was packing a suitcase for her trip and picked out a dress for her to wear.”

Another commented: “I love the idea of being old and seeing my mum again, and her taking me into the afterlife as she brought me into this one.”
