In the wake of Eric Dane’s death, messages of remembrance have continued to come in from fans, friends and fellow actors who worked with him across his long career.
The Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria actor died aged 53 after living with ALS, a condition he had discussed publicly while still staying active professionally.
Across social media posts and interviews, people have spoken about the mark he left both on screen and off. Many have said they will remember not only his performances, but also the support he offered to others affected by ALS even as his own health deteriorated. Those close to him have described the loss as deeply personal, often returning to how devoted he was to his family throughout his life.
Alongside the tributes, friends launched a GoFundMe to help cover future costs and provide longer-term security for his daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were frequently described as the centre of his world.
The fundraiser has now passed $131,000, helped by a major donation from Euphoria director Sam Levinson and his wife Ashley. Their $27,000 contribution is currently listed as the campaign’s largest. The page also shows hundreds of smaller donations arriving in a short period, mirroring the broader wave of support around Dane’s family.
In the campaign description, organisers say the goal is to honour Dane’s legacy while also offering practical assistance for what comes next. It adds that he became a committed advocate for the ALS community and remained determined to help others facing the disease, even as his condition advanced.
Figures from across the industry have continued to highlight his generosity and professionalism, while audiences have revisited some of his best-known roles — from Grey’s Anatomy’s “McSteamy” to Cal Jacobs in HBO’s Euphoria.
Levinson previously shared a heartfelt tribute following the news of his death, writing: “I’m heartbroken by the loss of our dear friend Eric. Working with him was an honor. Being his friend was a gift. Eric’s family is in our prayers. May his memory be for a blessing.”
