Eva Longoria reveals what she missed the most after leaving the US

Eva Longoria has shared what she longs for most since relocating from the US to live overseas with her husband and son.

Brought up in Texas before later moving to Los Angeles, the actor spent many of her formative years in the States. But in 2024, Longoria and her husband, José Bastón, made a major lifestyle shift, moving abroad with their seven-year-old son, Santiago.

The couple’s relationship began after they were introduced by a mutual friend in 2013. After dating for two years, Bastón proposed during a trip to Dubai, getting down on one knee in the desert.

They married in 2016, and in 2018 welcomed their son, Santiago Enrique.

While she’s enjoying life outside the US, the 51-year-old told People there are a couple of things she still wishes she had more access to—especially now that she’s based in Spain.

“I miss my family, my Texas family…. [and] good Mexican food. That’s what I miss. That’s what’s not in Europe, is good Mexican food,” she said.

At the same time, Longoria explained there are parts of American day-to-day routine she’s glad to have left behind. One detail she singled out was the pace of workplace lunch culture.

However, there are plenty of things the star doesn’t miss about the busy stateside life. Elsewhere in the interview, Longoria said she doesn’t miss ‘the working lunch’ at all.

She told People she finds the contrast between countries striking, describing the US approach as stressful—where lunch often means stepping out briefly to grab something quick before jumping back into work.

According to Longoria, life in Spain feels far less hurried, and mealtimes are treated as something to slow down for rather than squeeze in.

She added that lunch hours in Spain and Mexico tend to be more relaxed overall—and that difference in tempo extends beyond mealtimes.

The Desperate Housewives star also praised how much easier it is to get around, saying traffic doesn’t compare to what she was used to in the US. She even noted she often walks everywhere in the European country she now calls home.

Her comments arrive as she continues her travel series, Eva Longoria: Searching for France, airing weekly on CNN. Earlier installments followed her through Spain and Mexico, and the newest season focuses on France’s local food, culture, history, and traditions.

Longoria was previously married to French-American basketball player Tony Parker, with the two wed from 2007 until 2011.
