Michael B. Jordan has given a clear reason why he hasn’t had children yet, sparking discussions on social media about his explanation.
Currently one of the most well-known actors in Hollywood, Michael B. Jordan has received a great deal of acclaim for his performance in the acclaimed Sinners this year.
Therefore, fans were surprised to learn that he is not in a relationship and does not have a wife or children.
During a preview of Netflix’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman, Jordan shared his thoughts on having a family.
While playing darts with Letterman at a pub, Jordan mentioned that apart from his film career, his daily life is quite uneventful.
The discussion eventually turned to family, and Letterman mentioned that he once had two amazing dogs before they passed away.

Asked whether he had any pets, Jordan replied: “Nah, I want to start small. I want kids one day, but I gotta start off with like plants and dogs to see if I can, you know.”
Letterman responded, “I see, plants, dogs, then humans.”
The two shared a laugh, with Jordan adding: “There it is, you know what I’m saying. If I can take care of a plant, I should be able to get a dog. If the dog is cool, I have a shot.”
Although it appeared to be a lighthearted moment between the two, with Letterman assuring him he’s on the right track, some people on social media were quick to comment.
Many pointed out that looking after plants or pets doesn’t equate to the challenges of raising children.
One individual noted, “Someone tell him it’s nowhere near being the same thing.”
Another remarked, “Dogs and plants don’t ask a million questions by 10am lol.”
A third commented, “Baby those dogs and plants don’t talk back like these teenagers.”
And another added, “It’s not the same, these kids love talking back and they think money grows on trees.”
While many argued that the three experiences are vastly different, some came to Jordan’s defense, saying they understood his reasoning.
Several users even mentioned that before having children, they considered getting a plant or pet as a way to test their ability to care for another being.
