Mark Ruffalo was outspoken in his disapproval of Donald Trump when questioned at the Golden Globes.
The actor, best known for his role in the Avengers franchise, has consistently used his platform to express his views on various political issues and highlight significant topics.
During the Golden Globes, Ruffalo directed sharp criticism at the Trump administration, making it abundantly clear how he feels about the operations of Donald Trump’s government.
This isn’t the first occasion Ruffalo has voiced his discontent with Trump, having previously criticized him for his approach to numerous critical matters.
These outspoken opinions have provoked a strong response from Trump and his administration, with Trump known for personally addressing celebrity criticisms of his policies and persona.
Responding to Ruffalo’s comments, Steven Cheung, White House Communications Director, posted on X: “Poor thing Mark Ruffalo, star of She-Hulk, is one of the worst actors in the business.
“More impressively, he’s an even worse human being by spewing outright lies because deep down inside, he hates himself for knowingly subjecting the public to his god awful performance.”
But what exactly has Ruffalo said about Trump in the past? Let’s explore further.

In 2020, Ruffalo remarked: “The world should consider my president public enemy number one.”
He drew attention to climate change, stating: “What we do in the next 10 years will be crucial to the future of the planet.
“And this is only going to become more and more evident to us.”
Ruffalo emphasized the need for action beyond political and corporate spheres, adding: “We can’t rely on the politicians. We can’t rely on the regulatory system. We can’t rely on the companies. They’re not going to self-regulate.”

Ruffalo has also previously voiced his stance on the concentration of wealth.

In a discussion with the New York Immigration Coalition in 2025, he stated: “It’s time to take our country back from this extreme wealth that has its hand all over the power of the nation.”
He expressed a vision for the US to ‘become a beautiful burgeoning democracy that works for the people and not just for the very wealthy’.
During a ‘No Kings’ protest last year, Ruffalo commented: “We have a king, and his court, and his beige henchmen, and they’re trampling on our rights and our laws and our freedoms, making themselves richer with taxpayer dollars and making us less safe with their love of other kings and dictators, and the likes of Putin, and Netanyahu and Kim Jong Un of the world.”

In 2023, Ruffalo used social media to label Donald Trump an ‘enemy of America’.
He responded to New York Times contributing editor Alex Kingsbury’s remarks about Trump urging his supporters to ‘go after’ the New York attorney general.
Ruffalo tweeted: “F-ing finally. Media starts to wake up…”
Continuing, he added: “Presidential contender is calling for Americans to kill and harm Americans,” concluding with, “Let that sink in. Enemy of America from within.”

In 2023, Ruffalo pointed out a court decision that determined Trump had engaged in fraudulent activities while managing the Trump Organization.
He expressed his thoughts on X, stating: “Another reminder that this man, in totality, is a fraud.
“He is a scam artist. He steals from the public, his workers who have not been paid, the students of his ‘university,’ his lawyers, his associates and business partners, and now his followers in donations that he pockets.”

After Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension following a controversial episode aired post the death of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, Ruffalo made strong remarks about the trajectory of US policies, likening it to ‘living under the Taliban’ due to its rigid social stances.
Ruffalo commented: “This cancellation is the U.S. government coming and taking your voice away from you.
“It is the U.S. government that is now suppressing the freedom of speech. It is the U.S. government, not your neighbors, not someone on social media. It is the government doing it now.”
He further warned: “And that’s where we all have to come together, because authoritarian regimes, fascist regimes have to degrade our freedoms more and more overtime until we’re living the smallest, the most frightened, the most secretive lives.
“Think of yourselves living under the Taliban because that’s where we’re headed.”
