The trailer for Steven Spielberg’s eagerly awaited alien film has been released.
This sci-fi feature, featuring a renowned ensemble cast, heralds Spielberg’s return to the science fiction genre.
Before Tuesday, December 16, details about the film were scarce, with only a few enigmatic hints teased to the public.
Even with the launch of a two-minute trailer, much about the film’s storyline remains shrouded in mystery.
The trailer hints at the plot but doesn’t reveal everything.
The film, set to release in 2026, is Spielberg’s first project since his 2022 drama, The Fabelmans.
Spielberg has previously directed alien-themed films such as 1977’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in 1982, and 2005’s War of the Worlds.
The film, titled Disclosure Day, features actress Emily Blunt, known for her role in 2016’s The Girl on the Train, and is produced by Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment.

Here’s what we’ve learned from the trailer release.
The narrative seems to revolve around the revelation of an alien universe to the human world.
The teaser begins with a foreboding question: “If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you?”
Emily Blunt plays a weather reporter in Kansas City, who starts to experience bizarre symptoms during a live broadcast.
The trailer also features Josh O’Connor’s character, who insists that ‘people deserve to know the truth,’ outlining his plan for ‘complete disclosure, for the entire world, all at once’.
In a dramatic scene, he stands in a crop circle, which hints at extraterrestrial themes.
Another scene captures Blunt’s character in panic as she exclaims ‘they’re coming’, while police forces invade the city.
In a surreal sequence, a moose and a bird enter a young girl’s room, and Blunt is seen guiding them into a house.
A character questions: “Why would he make such a vast universe yet save it only for us?”
The film remains shrouded in mystery.
While no official synopsis for Disclosure Day is available, it is described by the studio as a ‘new original event film’ and is categorized as a thriller.
The cast includes Emily Blunt from Oppenheimer, Josh O’Connor from Challengers, Colin Firth from Kingsman, Eve Hewson from Bad Sister, and Colman Domingo from Rustin.
Additional cast members listed on IMDb include Wyatt Russell, Elizabeth Marvel, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, and Michael Gaston.
Mckenna Bridger, Elliot Villar, Tommy Martinez, Patricia Connolly, and Noah Robbins also feature.
Chavo Guerrero Jr, Brian Cage, and Gabby Beans are part of the cast as well.

Hints leading up to the trailer’s release were subtly shared.
Billboards in Los Angeles and New York City last week showcased the movie’s release date.
The posters depicted an inverted eye within the silhouette of a Northern cardinal bird.
The surrounding black space featured Spielberg’s name alongside the words: “ALL WILL BE DISCLOSED 06.12.2026.”
Speculation arose that the film would be titled ‘Disclosure’.
The storyline is an original concept by Spielberg, adapted into a screenplay by David Koepp.
Filming started in February 2025 in New Jersey, Atlanta, New York City, and Huntington, under the working title Non-View.
Casting calls in March sought a diverse array of extras, ranging from wrestling fans and diner patrons to hotel guests and North Korean soldiers.
Filming locations included the Cape May Seashore Lines railroad and McGinley Square in Jersey City.
Screenwriter Koepp confirmed that filming concluded in late May.
The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 12, 2026.
