A former child actor known for his role in one of Margot Robbie’s favorite films has transitioned into becoming one of the wealthiest individuals in the entertainment industry.
In 2017, Margot Robbie, the actress known for her role in Barbie, expressed her fascination with the sport of hockey. She was so inspired after watching the 1992 movie, The Mighty Ducks, that she joined a hockey team upon moving to the United States.
The well-loved Disney film, featuring Emilio Estevez, Joshua Jackson, and Marguerite Moreau, tells the story of a former hockey star who ends up coaching a youth hockey team.
The movie was a big hit, making $50.7 million at the US box office and leading to a franchise that expanded into theme parks and hotel attractions.
One of the actors from the film is Brock Pierce, now a prominent US entrepreneur, who also appeared in 1996’s First Kid.
Though he achieved early fame as a child actor, Pierce left acting after his role in the 1997 television movie, Legend of the Lost Tomb.
Today, Pierce has amassed a considerable fortune, estimated between $700 million and $1.1 billion. But what has enabled the former actor to remain so influential?
After leaving acting at the age of 16, Pierce co-founded the Digital Entertainment Network (DEN).
This venture was groundbreaking in video streaming, aiming for online expansion long before current major streaming services.
Pierce also found immense success with Bitcoin, profiting significantly as an early investor in the cryptocurrency. Besides his acting career, you might recall Pierce’s 2020 presidential run, where Akon supported his campaign, though he fell short by 81 million votes.
According to the Federal Election Commission, Pierce received only 0.03 percent of the total vote count.
The following year, he led the international effort to establish Bitcoin as the official currency of El Salvador. While most of Pierce’s wealth is derived from early cryptocurrency investments, he also founded ZAM.
This company, established in 2003, ‘specializes in building highly engaged communities and comprehensive publishing solutions for our partners in video games,’ as stated on its website.
Earlier this year, Pierce extended an invitation to Wendy Williams to stay at his mansion amid her conservatorship struggles.
In 2022, Wendy Williams, the American former broadcaster and media personality, was placed under a temporary financial guardianship by a New York judge after concerns arose regarding her mental health, leading to the freezing of her bank accounts.
Concerning Williams, who has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, Pierce commented: “I have always admired Wendy Williams’ strength and resilience, and when I saw her in need, I felt compelled to offer my support.
“Wendy has given so much to the world as both a woman and an entertainer. Years ago, I had the privilege of being a guest on her radio show, and now I want to extend a helping hand to an old friend in her time of need.”
In a conversation with Page Six, Pierce shared that Williams would have access to ‘around-the-clock’ medical care at his home, which he described as a sanctuary for her to ‘begin her journey to healing.’
“Wendy is a national treasure, and it’s time we show her the kindness and support she has always given to so many.”
UNILAD has reached out to William’s representatives for their comments.
Page Six also mentioned that Pierce owns properties in several cities including Amsterdam, Puerto Rico, New York City, and Washington, D.C., along with a Portuguese ocean liner.
Last month, Pierce revealed his new role as an Ambassador to Central America for the Permanent Mission of the House of Feigenblatt to the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN).
“I look forward to collaborating with leaders across the region to create new opportunities for growth and partnership,” he announced on Instagram.
“My thanks to the House of Feigenblatt for their trust and vision. Honored to be sharing this with Sikander Khan, Hassan and Ambassador Otto Federico von Feigenblatt.”
