Geopolitical tensions have reached unprecedented levels, leading many to fear the possibility of a third world war. An expert has now outlined two scenarios that could potentially escalate into a global conflict.
The current global landscape is fraught with uncertainty, particularly following Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine and the escalating tensions in the Middle East between Israel and Iran. These developments are significant sources of concern.
Over the weekend, Israel and Iran exchanged strikes, resulting in the death of three civilians in an Iranian missile attack on Tel Aviv.
With rising tensions and no resolution in sight for the Russia-Ukraine conflict, discussions about a potential third world war persist. According to security expert Professor Anthony Glees, these conflicts could serve as a ‘blueprint’ for how future tensions might evolve into a global war.
Speaking to The Mirror, Glees explained two potential paths to such a devastating world war.
As a lecturer at the University of Buckingham in the UK, he stated, “First, that Iran hits back hard, is supported by its admittedly weakened proxies, Hezbollah, the Houthis and what’s left of Hamas, as well as its chums in the region and beyond.”
Such actions could trigger a global conflict, impacting lives on an international scale.
The expert further elaborated on another scenario that might lead to a third world war.
Considering the significant influence of the US, concerns arise whenever figures like Donald Trump make announcements or criticisms through platforms like Truth Social.
Glees warned that leaders such as Vladimir Putin, North Korea’s Kim Jong-Un, and China’s Xi Jinping might perceive a ‘distracted’ US as an opportunity to initiate a global conflict.
“We recall that Putin is firing Shahed drones at Ukraine. Now is the time to pursue their own bugbears in Ukraine, South Korea and Taiwan,” Glees remarked.
“Naturally we hope this won’t happen. But if it does, I think what Israel has been doing since about 3.00am gives us a blueprint for what could happen to us here in Europe.”
Meanwhile, Apti Alaudinov, one of Putin’s generals, has intensified the situation by urging the Russian leader to mobilize troops and highlight the country’s significant nuclear capabilities.
On Telegram, Alaudinov stated, “We need to declare mobilisation.”
He suggested the possibility of Russia deploying up to one million troops, asserting, “We need to prepare at least half a million people in advance. But realistically one million people. We need to call them up and start preparing them for the fact that the war has already begun, which we already know is happening – World War 3.
“It has already taken on a new turn and a new momentum.
“And so that no one dares to play with us the way they played with all the other countries, and now with Iran. Believe me, we all need to unite, unite, unite at all levels.”
