Experts in the dating world have shared their predictions for what the year 2026 has in store for singles, particularly how dating approaches and green flags are evolving.
With the rise of technology, dating apps have become a common and abundant resource for those seeking a partner. While individual experiences may differ, these apps provide companies with a wealth of data, allowing them to grasp what preferences are trending among users.
As 2025 draws to a close, Tinder has offered insights into the dating trends anticipated for 2026. The company suggests that people are entering the new year with a focus on being more transparent, honest, and emotionally expressive, marking 2026 as the year of ‘no mixed signals.’
Melissa Hobley, the Chief Marketing Officer at Tinder, expressed: “We’ve all got enough going on and dating shouldn’t feel like another deadline.

“Singles are looking for a connection that feels easy, honest and a little bit fun. They’re done overthinking every message and overanalyzing every match. Dating should add a spark, not more stress.
“You can already see that energy in what’s shaping 2026 – singles are saying exactly what they want, standing for what they believe in, and leading with honesty and openness. Being emotionally available doesn’t make you cringe, it makes you interesting.”
In a more comprehensive press release, Tinder provided additional insights into their expectations for the coming year. By surveying singles in the U.S., UK, Canada, and Australia during October and November, they gathered a clearer understanding of user desires.
Of the 4,000 young singles (ages 18-25) surveyed, 64 percent indicated that emotional honesty is ‘what dating needs most,’ while 60 percent emphasized the need for clearer communication about intentions. Tinder has termed this concept ‘clear-coding,’ which involves clearly stating what one wants and seeks in a partner.

Additionally, they predict that Emotional Vibe coding will be significant in 2026, a topic touched upon by Hobley.
In their press release, Tinder highlighted: “Daters in 2026 will be balancing talking and feeling, showing they want meaningful chemistry without emotional over-complication. 56 percent say honest conversations matter most, 45 percent want more empathy after rejection and ‘hopeful’ was the top word to describe dating in 2026. In short, hope is hot, and singles aren’t afraid to show it!”
For those aiming to find their match in the upcoming year, best wishes on your journey.
