Explanation for Diddy’s sexual assault lawsuit dismissal as attorneys break their silence

One of the civil lawsuits against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been dismissed by a judge.

The rapper, who is currently detained without bail at Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, is facing both criminal and civil legal challenges.

Regarding the criminal cases, Diddy was charged last year with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals for the purpose of engaging in prostitution.

In addition, numerous people have filed civil lawsuits accusing the rapper of sexual assault, with some allegations dating back to the 1990s.

Diddy has denied all the accusations made against him.

Despite the string of legal challenges in recent months, Diddy achieved a minor legal victory when a judge decided to dismiss one of the civil suits against him.

On March 31, US District Court Judge Lewis J. Liman issued an order to close the case in question.

The lawsuit was filed by someone using the pseudonym ‘Jane Doe’.

Doe originally filed the suit in October 2014, alleging that Diddy raped her in New York in 1995 during a Biggie Smalls music video shoot.

However, Judge Liman ordered on March 6 that the plaintiff re-submit the complaint using her real name, as proceeding anonymously was not permissible.

The woman did not comply with this requirement, leading to the case’s dismissal.

“As of today, March 31, 2025, (Doe) has not filed a complaint in her own name, nor has she sought an extension of time to do so,” Liman stated in his ruling.

Tony Buzbee, the attorney representing the woman, expressed understanding of her decision not to disclose her identity.

In a statement to USA Today, Buzbee remarked: “In this particular case, Jane Doe opted not to proceed. There is a lot of fear amongst these plaintiffs. I thus can’t blame her.”

He added: “These are tough cases and they are many times re-traumatizing for those who pursue them. Each case stands on its own merit.

“This woman chose not to proceed and subject herself to the media circus and the perceived danger she felt. We have to respect that.”

As of October 2024, Buzbee was representing approximately 120 individuals who have accused Diddy.

At that time, the lawyer committed to ‘expose the enablers who enabled this conduct behind closed doors’.
