Thousands of Facebook users found themselves unable to view their feed on their phones this morning, after a reported “site issue” disrupted access.
Many users said the app or mobile browser was displaying an error message rather than the usual News Feed, with some seeing text indicating their account was temporarily unavailable because of a site issue. Reports of the problem appeared to spike quickly across outage-tracking sites and user forums, suggesting a broader service disruption rather than an isolated device problem.
Facebook is one of Meta’s largest services and is used by billions of people worldwide, so even a short interruption can affect a huge number of users at once. Outages on Meta’s platforms have also drawn attention in recent years, including a major Facebook and Instagram disruption in June that left users unable to log in or load content for several hours.
As with many service hiccups, users experiencing the issue can try basic steps such as switching between Wi‑Fi and mobile data, force-closing and reopening the app, or checking whether the problem is also affecting Instagram, Messenger or Facebook on desktop. If the disruption is platform-wide, however, the issue typically resolves on Meta’s side without users needing to change anything.
