Family alleges woman fatally expelled from revolving door at Trump hotel

A lawsuit has been filed by the family of a woman who tragically died after being ‘violently ejected by a revolving door’ at a Trump hotel.

Diana Truschke, a resident of the San Francisco Bay area in California, was at the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on March 21, 2023, when the unfortunate incident occurred.

Her son claims in a wrongful death lawsuit that the 78-year-old real estate agent was struck by a malfunctioning revolving door, which propelled her several feet with such force that she was ‘violently ejected’ from the building.

The lawsuit states the revolving door unexpectedly accelerated, causing her to fall face-first onto the sidewalk and sustain injuries.

“As a result, Ms. Truschke was violently ejected from the revolving door, causing her to be thrown several feet, ultimately falling to the sidewalk on her face,” the lawsuit states, according to The Independent.

Following the incident, she was taken to the hospital for medical care.

Her son is bringing the lawsuit against the hotel for alleged negligence, according to NBC News, claiming they should have been aware of the door’s malfunction.

The lawsuit, referenced by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, indicates that Ms. Truschke’s injuries from the door’s impact necessitated extensive medical treatment, though specific details of the injuries were not disclosed.

Sadly, over 18 months later, on October 14, 2024, she passed away, which her son attributes to ‘complications from her injuries.’

The legal action was initiated on March 18 in Clark County, Nevada, by her estate and its administrator, her son and sole heir, John Truschke.

The lawsuit asserts the hotel breached health and safety regulations by failing to maintain the door, posing a hazard at the time.

It further claims the hotel was or should have been aware of the malfunction and should have issued safety warnings.

John is demanding compensation exceeding $15,000 for medical and funeral expenses, as well as damages for pain, suffering, loss of companionship, economic losses, and costs incurred through medical treatments, alongside physical and emotional suffering endured by his mother.

The Trump Organization, which is the family business led by Donald Trump, is the corporate parent of Trump Hotels.

Ms. Truschke had been a guest at Trump Hotel Las Vegas, which has been open since 2008 at the north end of the famous strip.

No date has been set for a hearing in this case.
