Family members speak out on Chiefs fans who were found dead in friend’s backyard after shocking update emerges

The chilling mystery surrounding the deaths of three Kansas City Chiefs fans found frozen in a Missouri backyard continues to haunt their families, who are desperate for answers. Clayton McGeeney, Ricky Johnson, and David Harrington were tragically discovered on the property of Jordan Willis in Kansas City, MO, leading to a complex investigation that has left more questions than answers.

On January 9, the bodies of the three friends were found, just days after they were last seen enjoying a Chiefs game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Despite autopsies and toxicology tests completed by late January by Frontier Forensics Midwest LLC, the findings were initially withheld due to the ongoing probe, according to a representative who spoke to Fox News Digital.

Now, six months later, the grieving families claim they are struggling to get the information they desperately seek. “Through this whole thing I’ve had a hard time getting anybody to answer me,” David Harrington’s mother, Jennifer Marquez, told FOX4.

Clayton McGeeney’s uncle, Jim McGeeney, expressed his anguish, stating, “My nephew died a tragic death along with two of his friends and nobody is being held accountable.”

Forensic Medical of Kansas recently confirmed the completion of the toxicology reports, which revealed traces of cocaine and fentanyl in the victims’ systems. However, the official cause and manner of death remain undisclosed, adding to the families’ frustrations.

“All three autopsy reports were certified on January 31, 2024,” confirmed Kelsie Gwartney, chief of investigations and administrator at Forensic Medical of Kansas.

Gwartney added in two separate statements: “Yes, our office finalized cause and manners of death for all three of the referenced decedents. All three cases are under suppression status and not open records available for release at this time.”

As time passes with no clear answers, a lawyer close to the families hinted to FOX4 that charges may never be filed, reflecting a deepening sense of despair over the lack of action. Jim McGeeney shared a poignant analogy, “If your car blew up right now what happened, well, they’re going to find out what happened. If a plane crashes what are they going to do, get the black box, they can find out what happened, but with this, three dead men, they don’t do anything, it appears they don’t do anything and if they are, let us know.”

As authorities continue their investigation, the Platte County Prosecutor’s Office stressed the importance of maintaining the integrity of the ongoing case. “This matter remains under active investigation. To protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation, we are unable to share details of the investigation at this time. We know the families of these three men want answers, and the Kansas City Police Department and my office are turning over every stone to try to obtain those answers,” their  statement read.

The Kansas City Missouri police have also been contacted by UNILAD for additional comments on the case.
