Family of Nurse Found Dead After Missing Work Speaks Out Following Neighbor’s Arrest

Oregon nurse Melissa Jubane was found deceased after failing to report to work, shortly after her recent marriage.

On Wednesday, September 4, Melissa Jubane was declared missing when she did not appear for her shift at St. Vincent Hospital located in southwest Portland, Oregon.

After three days of searching, the 32-year-old’s body was found, and police have since arrested her neighbor, 27-year-old Bryce Johnathan Schubert.

In a Facebook post, the Beaverton Police Department indicated that coworkers, friends, and family were deeply worried when Melissa did not show up for her morning shift, prompting them to request a welfare check around 10:18 AM.

Upon arriving at Melissa’s residence, officers were accompanied by staff from the apartment complex and conducted a search of her apartment, but did not find her present.

“Her absence without communication was deemed unusual and alarming,” the department added.

Efforts to contact Melissa by phone were unsuccessful, and searches of her bank and credit card records yielded no new information. Consequently, Melissa was officially listed as a missing person by 3:12 PM on September 4.

Following an extensive investigation, police suspected that her neighbor, Schubert, was involved in her disappearance. Schubert was arrested on the evening of September 5 and charged with her murder after her remains were found.

Melissa’s family has spoken out on social media.

Melissa’s mother, Valentin Jubane, shared on Facebook: “I’m in so much pain right now for you my daughter Melissa Jubane. As promised by the Beaverton Police Authorities to us, your justice will be done soon. I have trust in our God The Almighty and His only son our Lord God Jesus Christ..You are loved by so many good people around the world.”

A cousin of Melissa’s, Onilobes Allan, also expressed feelings on social media: “My cousin Melissa Jubane is a down to earth, funny, God fearing, very helpful and successful in a young age. These are the kind of people our government need to protect so we can have a chance to live in peace and have happiness in the world but unfortunately got taken advantage and was killed by someone that is very evil. I’m asking the government to make laws that protect good citizens. My family has been serving United States military since World War II until now and we don’t deserve this. To whom it may concern, we need JUSTICE FOR MELISSA and for all the good people in this country USA.”

The Beaverton Police Department concluded: “This is an active investigation. While we acknowledge the significant community interest and concern, we must withhold further details to preserve the integrity of the investigation. Tips related to this case are still welcome. Please call 503.526.2280 to provide information.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the community members who have assisted with the search for Melissa. Our deepest condolences go out to Melissa’s family, friends and coworkers.”
