However, the drama surrounding the event seemed to have begun even before the ceremony itself.
The 2026 Golden Globes kicked off with host Nikki Glaser, who delivered a humorous yet controversial monologue, including a quip about the A-listers present and the Epstein files.
She remarked: “And by A-listers, I do mean people who are on a list that has been heavily redacted.”

The red carpet, however, is where one of the evening’s most dramatic moments unfolded, as Orlando Bloom appeared to criticize his ex-fiancée, Katy Perry.
The 48-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean actor, who ended his relationship with Perry in June 2025, discussed his difficulties with ‘trusting’ women post-breakup while talking about their five-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.
When queried on the red carpet on Sunday (11 Jan) about his daughter’s Christmas wish list, which featured a ‘boyfriend and a cat,’ Bloom’s response seemed to throw shade at Perry: “That’s kind of nuts, right? But I was the boyfriend so that’s the good news hallelujah!”
In a more straightforward comment, he continued: “She’s gonna marry me, finally a woman I can trust!”
This marks one of Bloom’s most candid remarks regarding the divorce, during which Perry was spotted dating former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shortly after their separation went public.
In November, Perry and Trudeau officially announced their relationship. Meanwhile, Bloom’s romantic life has been relatively private, though he was recently seen in Las Vegas with Colombian actress Sofia Vergara.
On the red carpet, Bloom clarified his comment about his ex, saying: “By the way that is Chris Rock’s joke, not mine! Chris Rock was like, ‘you had a daughter? Amazing finally a woman you can trust’.”
