Fans Criticize Calvin Harris for Sharing Graphic Photos After Baby’s Birth

Calvin Harris recently faced criticism from his followers after sharing personal details about his son’s birth.

Through social media, fans can stay updated with their favorite celebrities’ lives, from upcoming projects to personal milestones, and Calvin Harris’s supporters are no exception.

The DJ announced that his wife, Vick Hope, gave birth to their son Micah through a home birth and shared detailed post-birth images on Instagram.

He also posted a touching photo of himself with Micah on the sofa, along with a heartfelt caption: “20th of July our boy arrived. Micah is here!

“My wife is a superhero and I am in complete awe of her primal wisdom! Just so grateful. We love you so much Micah.”

However, some fans found the additional images too revealing.

Harris included a photo of Vick’s placenta and several showing the process of dehydrating it to create pills.

Some people believe that consuming placenta can help restore nutrients lost during childbirth.

Chrissy Teigen has mentioned that she ‘avoided’ postpartum depression after her second child, Miles, by consuming her placenta.

Despite such claims, scientific support for the health benefits of eating placenta is minimal.

The CDC advises against placenta pills following a case where they couldn’t exclude the pills as the source of a bacterial infection in a newborn.

The agency states: “The placenta encapsulation process does not, per se, eradicate infectious pathogens.”

Harris’s followers expressed their unease, particularly due to the absence of a warning.

One commenter remarked: “Swiping: ‘Oh wow!…. That’s amazing….. Congratula….. WHAT THE F***!?’”

Another commented: “Didn’t expect to see a full on placenta pic whilst eating my lunch today.”

A third noted: “Well a little disclaimer would have been nice…”

Another comment read: “Congrats on the baby but the placenta pics are TMI. Whole, chopped up, or made into pill form. I could do without this info.”

Despite some fans’ discomfort, others applauded Harris and his wife for breaking the stigma around childbirth details, especially concerning home births.

Singer Becky Hill praised the couple, writing: “Love to see the placenta!! Amazing we grow a whole new organ to provide life! Good job not wasting it either, that’s some goddess magic right there!”

Fans also expressed support: “Congratulations! Thank you for normalizing home birth (and placentas!) with these beautiful pictures. What a dream.”

Another comment read: “A big f**k yes to sharing about homebirth and placentas!!!! Congratulations!!”

So, regardless of opinions on the matter, congratulations are certainly due to the DJ and his wife.
