Heidi Klum has a reputation for her elaborate, daring, and remarkable Halloween costumes, but there’s an element of her 2024 ensemble that’s unsettling social media users.
At her 23rd annual Halloween bash at The Venue on Music Row in New York, Klum demonstrated why she’s considered the “Halloqueen.” She arrived on the red carpet in a costume inspired by the 1982 sci-fi classic, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.
Though social media users agree that the 51-year-old model has “won” Halloween once more, they haven’t hesitated to point out a particularly eerie feature of her and husband Tom Kaulitz’s costumes.
Klum, known for her dedication to creating standout Halloween looks, has previously dressed as a worm, an aged version of herself, and even a peacock. Her commitment to her craft was evident once again this year.
On October 31, Klum teased her costume reveal on Instagram, showing glimpses of a thumb and parts of the costume’s outer layers.
A video documented her transformation into E.T., complete with a blond wig, bowl hat, scarf, and cardigan, while Kaulitz chose a more traditional take on the iconic alien from the 1982 film starring Drew Barrymore.
Social media has been abuzz with admiration for the costume, with many calling it “incredible” and dubbing Klum “ALWAYS the Queen of Halloween.”
However, some have noted that the costume has a somewhat “scary” element, with one detail in particular unsettling viewers.
One Twitter user remarked: “The neck being her face is actually scary.”
Another echoed: “The eyes on the neck HELP.”
A third person said: “This is amazing until you see the neck then, it’s terrifying!”
Someone else commented: “Knowing Heidi Klum’s face is in the neck of her ET is even scarier lol.”
A fifth user added: “Her face/head being the neck. Heidi Klum never stops taking over Halloween.”
And another noted: “This became so horrifying to me once I noticed there are two sets of eyes and faces….”
On Reddit, a user commented on the costume’s height: “For some reason ET being that tall is freaking me out. ETs shouldn’t be that tall. I need them to cap out at like three feet. Great costume though.”
