Timothée Chalamet delivered an anxious acceptance speech, during which Amanda Seyfried found herself puzzled by one particular remark.
Chalamet took the stage after unexpectedly winning the Critic’s Choice Award for Best Actor. This accolade was for his portrayal in the film Marty Supreme, where he played the role of a determined table tennis player striving to make a mark in the 1950s.
The actor, slightly flustered, mentioned that he had many people to acknowledge and wanted to seize the opportunity as he was unsure if he would ever have the chance to be on stage again.
He expressed his gratitude towards his fellow nominees, like Michael B Jordan, and his film’s director, Josh Safdie. He then directed his appreciation towards his long-term girlfriend, Kylie Jenner.

In his speech, he stated: “Damn, I’m more nervous than I thought I’d be.
“[Josh] you made a story about the relatable dream and you didn’t preach to the audience about what’s right and wrong. I think you should all be telling stories like that, so thank you for this dream.”
In thanking Jenner, he added: “Thank you to my partner of three years. Thank you for our foundation. I love you. I couldn’t do this without you.”
While some social media users expressed surprise over the couple’s three-year relationship, others found themselves puzzled for a different reason.
Amanda Seyfried, present at the awards, shared her confusion on Instagram regarding Chalamet’s shoutout.
Commenting on a video of the acceptance speech, she wrote: “Oh not like a foundation/charity I was curious about that.”
Interestingly, other social media users also admitted they misunderstood Chalamet’s reference to the ‘foundations’ of his relationship with Jenner, assuming he was talking about a charity.

On Reddit, a user shared the sentiment, stating: “Same. thought he was thanking a non profit foundation partner until he said I love you.”
Another user added: “Same, I was shooketh and had to do a double take! So didnt he mean like…. The foundations of their relationship???”
A third commented: “Why did I think it was a dig at her heavy makeup.”
Someone humorously responded: “Why would a man make fun of his partner’s perfectly normal glam makeup on stage while accepting a professional award.”
And another person simply agreed, saying: “The way i thought the exact same thing, Amanda.”
