Kylie Jenner, 29, is pushing back against her daughter’s urge to straighten her curls.
The Kylie Cosmetics founder revealed in a new YouTube video that Stormi Webster, 8, has been asking to lose the ringlets she was born with. “Stormi has been talking about, she really wants to straighten her hair, and I’m kind of not into the idea,” Jenner said in the clip, which shows the mother-daughter pair baking Halloween cookies alongside 4-year-old son Aire Webster. The trio wore matching Hanna Andersson pumpkin pajamas for the seasonal activity.
Stormi, who appeared in the video with her hair styled in box braids, quickly negotiated a compromise. “And my birthday!” she interjected. “You said!”

The exchange drew warm responses from viewers in the comments section. “I love that you want to protect Stormi’s curls, keep it up xx,” one YouTube user wrote. Another added, “I love that Kylie is trying raise stromi (sic) to embrace her curls.” A third commenter typed, “The way she embraces her daughters beautiful natural curly hair and encourages her to wear it it curly is so beautiful.”

Jenner did offer one exception to her no-straightening stance: Halloween. The temporary allowance suggests a middle ground between maternal guidance and giving Stormi some autonomy over her appearance.

The beauty mogul’s protective stance marks a notable shift from her own heavily styled public image during the mid-2010s “King Kylie” era, when she became famous for rotating through an extensive collection of wild wigs in candy colors and dramatic cuts. That phase made her a trendsetter in artificial hair, yet she has taken a different approach with her firstborn.

Wigs have not been entirely off-limits for Stormi, however. In June, Jenner shared a photo of her daughter playing on an iPad while wearing a long, bubblegum pink hairpiece, joking that the child had gotten into her wig closet. The snap showed Stormi experimenting with the kind of dramatic transformation her mother once favored.

Jenner’s current philosophy on Stormi’s hair has been building for years. “I love doing her hair. I’m not the best, but I love learning,” she captioned a 2019 Instagram Story video that showed her brushing the then-toddler’s curls into a tiny ponytail. She connected the ritual to her own childhood, adding, “Some of my favorite memories are of my mom doing my hair.”

The YouTube baking video arrives as observers have noted Jenner’s own evolving look, with recent appearances prompting discussion about whether she has reduced her signature lip fillers. She previously confirmed in 2018 that she had “got rid of” the fillers after years of speculation, though she has not addressed any recent adjustments.
