If you were among those who enjoyed Nobody Wants This, there’s exciting news: the popular series has been given the green light for a second season.
Featuring Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, Nobody Wants This is a romantic comedy series spanning 10 episodes. It tells the story of Noah, a newly single rabbi portrayed by Brody, and Joanne, an agnostic sex podcaster played by Bell, as they navigate falling in love despite their contrasting lifestyles.
The show has garnered praise from both critics and audiences for its touching storyline, sharp humor, and the undeniable chemistry between its leading stars, sparking what some consider a much-needed revival of the romcom genre.
Just two weeks following its premiere on September 26, the series has been confirmed for a second season. New showrunners Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan will take charge, while Erin Foster, the series’ creator, will continue as an executive producer.
The announcement about the renewal was made by Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria at the Bloomberg Screentime conference in Los Angeles. It was also mentioned that the writing for the second season is currently in progress.
“I am excited beyond belief to be a part of season two of Nobody Wants This, created by the hilarious Erin Foster,” Kaplan, who previously collaborated with Konner on HBO’s Girls, expressed to Variety. “It is such a unique and beautiful show and I am already having the best time working on it.”
Since its premiere, Nobody Wants This has maintained a strong position on Netflix’s Top 10 English language TV chart, amassing 15.9 million views in its first full week, leaving audiences eager for more.
Warning: spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched the entire series yet.
The first season concludes with Noah and Joanne acknowledging that their differences might be too significant for their relationship, implying that a major life change is needed for them to stay together. Although it appears Noah might sacrifice a head rabbi position to be with Joanne, the season ends before revealing his decision.
With the cliffhanger ending, fans are thrilled about the upcoming second season. One Twitter user exclaimed, “Best news ever made my day honestly.”
Another user suggested the perfect way to spend the wait: “Woohoo!! Hot rabbi is coming back! Plenty of time to revisit Seth Cohen in The O.C. before Nobody Wants This Season 2 comes out!”
Seth Cohen/Adam Brody fans, take note.
