Father And Son Earn $160,000 Per Year Making “Transformers” Out of Scrap Car Parts

What do you get when you put together a fine arts background, some scrap metal, and sheer ingenuity? For this father and son duo in China, the answer seems to be a lucrative Transformers business.

This father and son have been earning upwards of 1 million yuan (about $160,000) a year, creating giant Transformers out of used car parts.

Yu Zhilin got the idea to create robot statues out of spare car parts from the Transformers films, which are extremely popular in China.

A farmer by profession in Zhangmu town of Hengyang country, Yu Zhilin also possesses a background in fine arts.

It took him 3 years to complete his first recycled model, and his statues have only gotten bigger and better since then.

With the help of his son, Lu Yingyun, he has since built some pretty incredible statues.

And though there are several other robot sculptors scattered throughout China, this duo unquestionably produces the best and most realistic models. This is the kind of work that is quickly snapped up by various malls throughout China and private collectors alike.

Their makeshift workshop also enjoys a constant stream of visitors, so it’s no wonder they have made quite a tidy profit from their creations.

We just hope they keep an eye on these two — we all know what Transformers are like…
