A former Playboy Bunny has spoken about a ‘gross’ routine Hugh Hefner apparently had during his time at the Playboy Mansion.
Kendra Wilkinson was one of Hefner’s three girlfriends featured on the reality series Girls Next Door.
She first met him at his 78th birthday celebrations and began dating him when she was 19.
Years on, Wilkinson has shared more about what day-to-day life was really like inside the Playboy Mansion — a place long linked with the larger-than-life party persona Hefner promoted.
According to Wilkinson, the experience wasn’t always as polished as it appeared from the outside, and there were parts of mansion life that felt far from glamorous.
One area that drew particular fascination over the years was the mansion’s infamous “Grotto”.
The Grotto was a hidden, cave-like feature that could be reached through the mansion’s swimming pool.
Speaking to Australian radio hosts Kyle and Jackie O, Wilkinson described the Grotto as “gross”, saying: “I didn’t like going in there. It was always so horrible.”
She also claimed the wider property didn’t live up to its reputation, arguing that despite its fame, it was “very run-down and not as great as everyone thought, it was pretty nasty”.
In another detail she said stood out for the wrong reasons, Wilkinson alleged Hefner had an unusual approach to cleaning up after the dogs around the home.
“There was dog poop everywhere and Hef would just wobble by and just pick it up with his bare hands,” she revealed.
Even with those less pleasant memories, Wilkinson insisted that she personally didn’t experience anything harmful while living there, despite the significant age gap between them when their relationship began.
“I was just a fun, wild, young, dumb blonde and I own it,” she said. “Nothing ever bad happened to me.”
Wilkinson isn’t the only former Bunny to describe a side of mansion life that contrasted with its glossy public image.
Holly Madison, who dated Hefner from 2001 to 2008 and was known as his “number one” girlfriend, has also spoken about experiences she found difficult during her time living at the mansion.
Madison has said that, while the age gap between them was significant, what she struggled with most was one particular sexual dynamic — group sex involving Hefner and other girlfriends — which she said she strongly disliked.
She told the In Your Dreams podcast: “If it was just me and him, it was a lot more normal than you would think. It’s a very different story between when we were just by ourselves than with everybody else in the room.
“Everybody else in the room, no. That was disgusting. I hated it. I made it very known I hated it.”
