Fox News has come under intense criticism online and has since apologized to viewers and to Donald Trump after airing the wrong video while discussing U.S. troops connected to the Iran conflict.
Fox & Friends sparked anger from many Americans after a segment about the weekend’s events included footage that did not match the story being reported.
During the broadcast, the show played older video of Donald Trump and presented it as though it came from the dignified transfer of six U.S. service members in Kuwait.
Those six service members were reported killed a day after the U.S. and Israel began their military campaign against Iran.
It later emerged that the clip used was actually from a dignified transfer dated December 17, 2025, at Dover Air Force Base, honoring two members of the Iowa National Guard and an interpreter who were killed in Syria.
The footage from March 7 would have shown Trump wearing a white hat with the letters “USA” on it, and viewers online quickly highlighted the discrepancy.

On air, a Fox News host addressed the error and offered an apology.
“Before we move on we want to acknowledge a mistake made earlier on our program during our coverage of yesterdays dignified transfer.
“We inadvertently aired video from an older dignified transfer instead of the ceremony that took place yesterday. We deeply regret the error and extend our respective condolences to the service members families. We honor the sacrifice of those six American heroes.”
A Fox News spokesperson also provided a statement about how the mix-up occurred.
“FOX News Media programs inadvertently aired file footage from a previous dignified transfer while discussing yesterday’s ceremony at Dover Air Force Base. The archival footage was mistakenly used during the video sourcing process. We regret the error and apologize for the incorrect footage.”
