Friends cast come together to honor Matthew Perry two years after tragic ketamine passing

The entire main Friends cast has gathered to honor the memory of their co-star Matthew Perry, two years following his untimely passing at the age of 54.

Matthew Perry, who captured hearts as Chandler Bing in the beloved sitcom, passed away on October 28, 2023. His tragic death resulted from an accidental drowning in his hot tub after consuming ketamine at his California residence.

The entertainment world was deeply shaken by this news, prompting an outpouring of grief from both fans and fellow celebrities mourning the loss of such a beloved figure.

Determined to preserve his legacy, his former castmates have come together to support a charity initiative through the Matthew Perry Foundation, aimed at combating addiction.

The cast collaborated with Soundwaves Art and British artist Tim Wakefield to create a unique collection of artwork for the holiday season.

Tim Wakefield is renowned for his unique art pieces that incorporate soundwaves from iconic songs and sounds, which are then signed by the original performers.

In his characteristic style, Wakefield converted the soundwaves of the Friends theme song into stunning designs, each influenced by a different character. He invited each cast member to sign a limited edition of these prints.

Photographs from behind the scenes captured the cast reuniting to sign the artworks, as they came together to honor their departed friend.

With the approval of Perry’s estate, some pieces have been produced featuring Perry’s autograph, serving as a lasting tribute to his impact on numerous lives.

Unsigned prints are priced at $100, while signed versions range from $600 and up, depending on framing choices.

All proceeds will benefit charities selected by the cast, including the Matthew Perry Foundation, which aids those battling addiction.

The foundation was established shortly after Perry’s passing, rooted in one of his most memorable quotes: “’When I die, I don’t want Friends to be the first thing that’s mentioned. I want helping others to be the first thing that’s mentioned. And I’m going to live the rest of my life proving that.”

Perry struggled with addiction throughout much of his life, candidly sharing his challenges and the allure of living under a spotlight.

Although he was in recovery, he succumbed to the temptation of ketamine, resulting in his accidental drowning due to the drug’s acute effects.
