Gayle King, 71, leans on Andy Cohen for inside “Real Housewives” intel.
The “CBS Mornings” co-host said exclusively at the 2026 PAC NYC Icon of Culture Gala earlier this week that she texts Cohen regularly when burning questions strike. “It’s not unusual for me to text him and say, ‘What do you think of fill in the blank?'” she said. “Andy and I are very close.”
King keeps her franchise loyalties close to the vest. “It would be hard to pick a favorite,” she explained. “I have a couple. I don’t watch all of them. Andy Cohen knows I’m a good watcher of the show.”
Cohen, 57, has his own soft spots. The Bravo executive and “Watch What Happens Live” host recently said that the New York and Atlanta franchises have “always been kind of close to my heart.”
The gala brought King together with Diane von Furstenberg, Nick Jonas, Robin Roberts and Michael Bloomberg. Former Disney CEO Bob Iger was honored at the event for his “unparalleled influence and profound impact on the global cultural landscape” and his support of Lower Manhattan following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
King’s television schedule leaves little room for downtime. “I can never turn off,” the veteran broadcaster confessed. “Because there’s always something going on, and I always have homework. I’ve got homework tonight. I’ll go home. I’ll do my homework. I’ve already started it. And then the day starts again.”
She insisted she isn’t complaining. “I really love what I do, and when you love what you do, you don’t bitch and moan about it; you figure out how to make it work. And I’ve figured that out.”
Money matters, but not most. “Well, yeah, that helps, but that’s the least of my concerns right now,” the journalist explained. “I want to be able to do a good job and like the job that I do. It’s always nice to be paid; I’m not gonna act like it’s not nice. It’s always nice to be paid.”
King and Cohen’s friendship has played out publicly before. During CNN’s 2023 New Year’s Eve broadcast, Cooper, 58, spat out his drink when King asked Cohen whether he had ever participated in a threesome. Cohen deflected with a joke, and Cooper dissolved into laughter. The moment circulated widely online and underscored the trio’s easy, teasing dynamic.
That same broadcast produced another viral exchange when King questioned Cohen about edibles, prompting Cooper to crack up and ask, “Do you mean like this hour?”
King continues her early-morning duties on “CBS Mornings” alongside her ongoing event appearances.
