This Giant Realistic Wool Cat Head Is Cute, Yet Strangely Unsettling

This half-man, half-cat creature is going viral, and for good reason.

The gargantuan, hyper-realistic cat noggin you see before you is the brainchild and handiwork of Housetu Sato and his students at the Japan School of Wool Art. In fact, it’s the only school in the world that boasts a specialist cat-making course where students learn the art of cat needle felting.

The head mask was “needle felted” by Sato-Sensei and his students out of sheep’s wool felt. He is an expert in this niche field and has even published a series of books on how to make realistic felt animals. Sato and the students modeled this one-off masterpiece in a series of confusing and somewhat ghoulish photos for you to enjoy.  So. Um. Enjoy.
