Glen Powell was commended for his reaction when questioned about potentially becoming the next James Bond.
The speculation surrounding the identity of the next Bond actor has been ongoing for years, with names such as Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, and Aaron-Taylor Johnson frequently mentioned as contenders.
There has even been talk about the possibility of the first female 007, but no official announcements have been made to confirm or deny these rumors.
Powell, however, expressed a clear stance on the matter during a recent interview.

In response to JOE’s question about the possibility of playing the iconic character, Powell stated: “Bond? Absolutely not.”
When further asked if he would ever consider the role, he replied: “Me? Absolutely not.
“No look I’m a huge James Bond fan. As a kid I tried to get people to call me Pierce, because of Pierce Brosnan, I even wrote a James Bond play.
“All my cousins wanted to be James Bond.
“But no, as a James Bond fan, I know a Brit should play him.”
Powell’s sentiments resonated with many, as one user on X commented: “Honestly good for him. He probably just wants to see the best for the film.”
Another observed: “That’s how you’d know he’s a big fan of the film, he doesn’t want to ruin it.”

The role of Bond was last portrayed by Daniel Craig, who appeared in five films: Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and No Time to Die (2021).
Reflecting on his time as Bond, Craig told the BBC in 2022: “I had an incredibly fortunate 17 years of my life making this.”
“I literally want to spend the next 20 years of my life trying to unhook it all and try and put it into a place because it was incredible.”
“I left it where I wanted it to be,” he added. “And that I was given the chance to do that with the last movie.”

While no official decisions have been made regarding the future of Bond, there have been some indications.
In a 2023 conversation with the Radio Times, casting director Debbie McWilliams mentioned that while younger actors were considered, they ultimately decided against them. “We did look at a lot of younger actors, and I just don’t think they had the gravitas,” she stated.
“They didn’t have the experience, they didn’t have the mental capacity to take it on, because it’s not just the part they’re taking on, it’s a massive responsibility.”
Producer Barbara Broccoli also remarked that the new Bond must be of a suitable age, balancing youth with maturity.
“When we cast Bond, it’s a 10-, 12-year commitment,” Broccoli explained to Variety in 2022. “So he’s probably thinking, ‘Do I really want that thing?’ Not everybody wants to do that. It was hard enough getting [Daniel Craig to do it].”
