GoFundMe has said it is reviewing the fundraiser created for Eric Dane’s daughters.
The campaign was launched by friends of the late actor to support his two children, Billie and Georgia.
Dane died on February 19 after a short illness with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
“As his illness progressed far more quickly than anyone could have imagined, Eric’s friends have come together to create this GoFundMe to support his girls and their future needs,” the page reads
“Any contribution, no matter the size, will help provide stability during this incredibly difficult time and in the future for Eric’s wonderful daughters.”

Donations poured in quickly after the page went live, pushing the total beyond the original $250,000 goal.
The target has since been increased to $500,000, with the total sitting at $290,000 at the time of writing.
The fundraiser also received a notable boost from Euphoria director Sam Levinson and his wife Ashley, whose $27,000 donation is currently the largest listed.
Even with the strong response, some observers have questioned the need for a fundraiser given Dane’s long career in Hollywood.
In a statement to The San Fransisco Chronicle, GoFundMe confirmed the campaign is being assessed and that the funds have been paused during the process.
“Our Trust and Safety team is still looking into this GoFundMe and has reached out to the organizer to gather additional information,” a spokesperson said.
“All funds are being safely held by our payment processors during this review process. We can follow up as soon as there is an update available.”
After the fundraiser began circulating online, Dane’s friend Mike McGuiness posted further detail about what led to the campaign being created.
“My friend of almost two decades just left us after a brutal battle with ALS. I’m the positive spin guy and can come up with something hopeful in most any situation. This one broke me. I had nothing to say, it’s about as hopeless an affliction one could get. I truly don’t know if I could muster grace or dignity in that spot,” he explained.
“… Covid and ALS did a number on his work life and he sadly couldn’t leave his family with the resources he had hoped. A gofundme is being made and I will post it on my story for anyone able to help. Love the ones you’ve got.”
